Elizabeth began her dance training with her mother and step-father, Rosemary and Alan McCarter in Flagstaff, Arizona at the age of 11. She furthered her dance education by attending summer intensives at San Francisco Ballet and The Joffrey Ballet School in New York City with Full Scholarships. At the age of 15, she was offered a Full Year Round Scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School in New York and moved to the Big Apple. Within 20 months she was promoted to the Joffrey Ballet Main Company under the Direction of Robert Joffrey. Her favorite roles were ones created on her by Artistic Director, Gerald Arpino, including the ballets Italian Suite, Jamboree and the tribute to Mr. Balanchine at his death, QUARTERTONES FOR MR. B. After her professional dance career she began to develop a passion for teaching dance. Elizabeth joined Pacific Ballet Theatre in Portland, Oregon and began her teaching career at the Pacific Ballet Theatre School. She then relocated to Southern California to teach for her parents at The Ballet Conservatory in Mission Viejo along with part time faculty member at University of California, Irvine from 1992-1998.
