Karissa began her training at JPD dancing jazz, lyrical and ballet. At age 10, when she decided to pursue ballet seriously, she moved to Riverside Ballet Arts. She continued her dance education by going to summer intensives at the School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and also Ballet Arizona. She stayed year round at San Francisco Ballet and danced with them in their Nutcracker. She has also performed lead roles dancing as the Dew Drop Fairy and Arabian in David Allen’s, The Nutcracker, Gamzatti from La Bayadere, Big Swans from Swan Lake and more. At the age of 17, she received her BASI Pilates certification with dance specialization from Karen Clippinger. Karissa then was accepted into Ballet Arizona as a trainee, and danced in their company in productions such as Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht and Symphony in Three Movements.
