Nancie Johnson began dancing at the age of seven under the direction of Cynthia Young and Charles and Phillip at Le Studio, the home of the Pasadena Dance Theatre. She was accepted to several summer intensive programs including Pacific Northwest Ballet. She was asked to stay year round as an apprentice to the Hartford Ballet Company in Connecticut. While at California State University, Long Beach on a dance scholarship, she continued training under Rebecca Wright, a former dancer with American Ballet Theatre. Other teaching influences include David Wilcox, Truman Finney, Cecilia Hering, and Charles Maples. Nancie performed with Los Angeles Classical Ballet, Golden State Ballet, and Redlands Festival Ballet, performing in productions such as the Nutcracker, La Fille Mal Gardee, Cinderella, Copellia, Faust, Pas De Quatre, and Don Quixote. She also performed in the Glory of Easter at the Crystal Cathedral. She has choreographed for Long Beach Ballet Theatre, Long Beach Ballet Arts Center’s pre-professional performing company. Two of her pieces were chosen and performed at Regional Dance America. Nancie is excited to be teaching again after taking time off to raise her twins, who are the joy of her life.
